Chapter one: GLOBALIZATION

Gratus mihi venis (you´re all welcomed)

First of all, I´d like to talk about the ambiguous meaning of globalization. We live in the sunset of modern societies. The twilight of our culture.Future is diffuse: nobody can imagine how it will be thirty years from now...This is the first point I want to discuss on this blog. Could you help me to solve it?

In other words, my proposal would be find an answer to the globalization process. Globalization is leading to a point we can not leave. From a standpoint of communication, the globalization empire is destroying our local channels, our own TV programming, radio stations, music artists... Moreover, country costumes like France, Spain or Italy are being internationalized. Spanish series (Los Hombres de Paco, Aida, El internado...) are being exploted and exported to other panhispanic countries. Is it fair? I don´t think so. What I really want to do is to protect all those small countries which they´ve recently received the arrival of media. Those countries which are incapable of establishing their own media service (station, programming, channel...) because the power is in foreign hands.

An example of this theory would be the role of News Corp. (the media giant directed by Rupert Murdoch) in Asian countries. The company of the multimillionaire business man was able to introduce a new (and unique) channel called "Star Television" in China, providing the chinese goverment a very useful tool for population control. So they made an agreement and both were satisfied. Why chinese people has to watch all those American channels and radio stations? Why don´t they have their own programes? This is the real trouble: globalization and americanization. Why are they both related? Can we change the situation?

Friends, we have an important problem that we must solve. Please, send comments if you want to stop this situation. Nevertheless, you can just put your name if you think you´re agree with this entry. I´m looking forward to hearing from you, AVM (AudiovisualMedia).

p.d: sorry for my english, but I haven´t learned it for ten years.
